Hello, and welcome to The Log
Or as I like to call it, "Mose things I think about". My name is Mose, and you'll find my blog and other things on adan.so.
This is a dumping ground for all things I'm generally up to, want to share, or simply just add some quick thoughts or rants.
As half the internet seems to go down and a lot of other streaming services go down, i'm really happy i've made sure to atleast have some self-hosted services, including my Plex library, to work with. Self-hosting is always great.
I'm fully anticipating the moment we have subscriptions to verify AI-generated content. Pay to find out the internet is truly dead.
Have finally completed the work on the Automattic Transparency Report, and i'm so damn happy to have such an amazing team who worked on it; https://transparency.automattic.com/2025/09/10/transparency-report-update-january-june-2025/
Transparency Report Update: January – June 2025
The Automattic Trust and Safety team’s vision is to maintain safety while democratizing publishing. Earlier this year, we established five pillars that underpin our intent: user rights, safety by d…
Only one more day until Series 20 of Taskmaster begins and i am so giddy. This show is just pure comfort watch, through 20 series it has not gone wrong. That's just incredible.
Well, shit... Currently finding myself in Athens and had my second earthquake ever and it did not do my heart any better than the first one. From what i can tell from my location, nothing major or bad though.
Finally pulled my PS5 out of storage to use it during my travels, only to discover last night as i got in to my Airbnb, that the HDMI port is broken... Shakespeare couldn't pen how heartbreaking this is.
For the longest time i used to avoid Docker setups, it seemeed so hard to set up and couldn't wrap my head around containers. How wrong i was... This is such a breeze.
Have been setting up my home library system, currently entirely on my older Macbook Pro M1 Pro as a temporary solution, and i hadn't been aware of how damn useful something like Tailscale (tailscale.com) is. Running pi-hole and vpn through it, easy to install and setup. Chef's kiss.

I don't know why but finally "fixing" or figuring out how to post to both my log and bluesky feels pretty damn good. Nothing amazing, but it's just nice to know i can do it if i want to.
I haven't used AI music generation, but Suno has been on my radar recently, and this specific playlist is almost entirely convincing me it might be worth playing around with it at least... https://suno.com/playlist/13171157-eb7e-45b2-9954-d4612fe4a4c2

Suno is building a future where anyone can make great music.
Ente has like all the things i need right now, but most importantly, a proper Watch Folder feature. What a bonehead i've been... Urgh. But at least it's not entirely bad, i've walked away with a lot of learnings in what NOT to do for the future... That's always valuable. I'll see next if i can make it to completing the successful setup of Ente... Fingers crossed!
Only thing is, i had chosen to use Immich as my Google Photos setup, and had proceeded to base my new docker setup around it. Including a fair amount of troubleshooting and fixing of things. Long story short, i'm 4 hours in to setting this thing up when i realise... My whole setup is based around manually uploading photos via Immich, not as what i had initially thought and planned for, namely that i'd have an app like Immich that would watch a folder > i place photos there > it gets uploaded to the cloud > My b2 backs it up as well = secure setup. Nope... I'd just made a whole mess of it... So now i'm restarting over, entirely but this time using Ente instead.
As most of the setup for my blog and my log is either complete or mostly there, i've turned my eye back on having a sensible setup for my photos. Namely in making sure my photos are stored somewhere sensible but also backed up. So i set out to a loong overdue dive into learning about docker, containers, cloud storage, Google Photos/Apple Photos alternatives, etc. It was a very fruitful session and i came out with a plan...
Jesus, Mary, and the wee donkey! Had an absolute fright as i was using Cursor to delete some files until it went to the wrong directory and deleted EVERYTHING in my folder containing all my other projects. I am so so so so thankful i had the foresight to have Backblaze Computer Backup set up and was able to quickly restore everything back just the way it was. The sense of relief i felt when that restore got completed could've floored an eleephant. I might have to throw some more money at Backblaze as a thanks for saving me 3 months worth of various projects. Back up your projects, people!
